Gladinet Cloud Desktop integrates your online storage accounts with Windows Explorer. What is online storage or cloud computing? More and more companies are offering this. Google with Google Docs, Picasa and Google Apps. Amazon with S3, ADrive or Microsoft Live Skydrive. It’s a new business model. Amazon and Google own a lot of servers that are not always in full use. So why not rent storage space or by offering online software tools take the consumer from his desktop to your servers. The fact that Windows offers Skydrive proofs that they believe in this too.
But with all those online storage places it gets more difficult to keep track of them. On your desktop you can easily place documents in folders or drag and drop them into folders. With online storage it is a more challenging task. And that’s where Gladinet comes in. With Gladinet you don’t have to access web portals via internet, but it integrates the services as a virtual drive into your Windows Explorer. Gladinet turns Windows Explorer into a cloud storage portal where your Gladinet Drive has a folder for each storage service that you have mounted. This way you can easily transfer files or folders between service providers with a simple drag and drop. It also allows you to create automated backups from local files or folder to the cloud or from cloud sources to cloud targets.
The login credentials for cloud storages and services are stored in your local PC or in memory. Gladinet does not collect them. They are used only when connecting to cloud services.
